Hi ken The engine is an easykart, the engine has a piston that has two rings fitted. I understand that the Italian Easykart engine, called the BMB, has only one ring, but ours has two, UK spec engine, not sure which engine is used in the States, I am struggling to locate a supply of replacement rings for this engine. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. Regards. Mo.

If your engine is an IAME 100cc Easykart engine, the piston rings are not available separately. When the rings need replacing the cylinder should be honed to fit the next oversized piston. New pistons come with new rings and clips. The piston rings last a long time on these engines, simply replacing the rings is no guarantee of increased compression. In order to maximize compression all of the scratches located above the intake and exhaust ports must be removed, proper piston ring end gap must be achieved, any out of round shape in the cylinder must be corrected, and proper piston to cylinder wall clearance must be maintained.

Thanks for your reply, the information you have given will help me maintain the engine in tip top condition, I have no access to any technical info for this engine! What would you suggest for piston to bore clearance when machining for a new piston, also what would you suggest for ring gap?
Regards. Mo

Mo, I too have had a tough time finding specs for the 100cc Easykart engine. I have researched specs for IAME's HPV 100cc piston port engine and they seem to fall between the 60cc and 125cc Easykart specs (which makes me think that they would be good to use on a 100cc EK engine). The HPV specifies a piston to cylinder clearance of .09mm to .10mm (.0034" to .004") and a ring end gap of .203mm to .381mm (.008" to .015" - I would use .008"-.010" if it were me). I will keep looking and If I find that the above values are not good I will post the corrected numbers. Good luck.
